The RNLI are delighted to be using LikeToBe as our platform to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day in 2020. For the past 5 years we have been inviting female students from local schools to the RNLI Support Centre in Poole for a day of fun engineering activities and to promote careers in engineering. By using LikeToBe we are now able to go a big step further by promoting the RNLI and our wide range of careers pathways, particularly in engineering, to a much wider audience.Lynne Mason, Apprenticeship & Early Careers Manager, RNLI
“The amount of interaction that takes place between students and organisations makes LikeToBe’s events stand out from others I have attended. In addition, students were able to continue to send questions after the event as the platform enables long-term communication. I would not hesitate to recommend LikeToBe to students, universities or businesses alike and we will be including LikeToBe as part of our future activities.”Megan Woodgate, Schools & Colleges Engagement Team Assistant, University of Plymouth
Building Plymouth is working together to promote skills and career opportunities in the booming construction and built environment sector. We need more young people to join our industry than ever before given the increasing skills gaps and skills shortages right across trade, technical and professional roles. We recognise the possibilities of inspiring and influencing young people and teachers alike through the innovative LiketoBe online platform and are keen to support this developmentEmma Hewitt, Skills Co-ordinator, Plymouth City Council
I’ve signed up to Like to Be because I want to help give the next generation access to real people doing real jobs so that they can make realistic decisions about what they would like to be and, most importantly, achieve their dreams, like I’ve been lucky enough to do.Ruth Peacey, Wildlife Film Maker and Birdwatch Magazine Conservation Hero of the Year 2017
I really enjoy using LiketoBe.org because it allows students to connect with employers through a very easy to use online platform. I see LiketoBe becoming a key method for students selecting what they want to do when they leave school. Currently many students leave school not knowing what they want to do, however LiketoBe can help us to develop an understanding of careers which we can work towards during our time in education. The platform also benefits students through a feature allowing us to communicate directly with employers, which can assist us in gaining a good idea of what skills employers are looking for. This will be a great help in supporting us to plan for and shape our futures in the world of work.Rhys Williams - LiketoBe Student Ambassador
Inmarsat understands the importance of giving young people the opportunity to explore their interests and discover the range of careers available to them. Enabling these young people with an online platform to connect with employers and some of their workforce to ask questions, review profiles and seek work experience is invaluable. For them truly understanding the skills (not just the subjects) required to join a role or an organisation is critical, more and more early career employers place significant weight on skills, behaviours and values over a specific subject studied. From an employer seeking great students this platform will help us to connect to those really seeking out opportunities to develop their careers and networks at an early age and we are delighted to be part of this initiative.Julie Hyam, Head of Early Careers and Talent, Inmarsat
During a 'normal' year, organising a Careers Fair in our all through Academy is a challenge that always pays dividends. In these Covid times organising a virtual Careers Fair that guaranteed a positive impact was quite frightening! Enter Liketobe! The good people at Liketobe talked me through organising a virtual Careers Fair on their platform, including guides for staff and pupils and even lesson plans. One of the benefits of the platform is that not only can pupils follow their school and each other, they can also follow professionals and pose questions. It is a resource that can be used throughout a pupil's school life for individual use, mentoring sessions as well as lessons. Liketobe is definitely a valuable resource that we will continue to use for our Careers programme and to aid in developing pupil aspiration.Nicola Perrott, Associate Principal, Dartmouth Academy
“We are really delighted to be part of this online careers event, working in partnership with LikeToBe, West of England Combined Authority and Department for Work and Pensions. Young people from across the region need opportunities to engage in meaningful and purposeful conversations and learning opportunities that guide their thinking and show them the world of opportunities. The current context means it is now more important than ever to work collectively across the South West, responding with a future-facing, fit for purpose offer to support young people to make informed choices and decisions about their own next steps. This event forms the first of a series of regional careers opportunities that our children and families can engage in, learning at distance and connecting back with their school teams, to empower them in the future”.Susie Weaver - Executive Principal - Cabot Learning Federation
